"It is with great pleasure to welcome you on behalf of our staff, committee, parents and children to the Alec-Hunter Pre-School website."

Alec Hunter Pre-School takes place 38 weeks a year running concurrently with local school times. It was established in 1974 and became a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance in 1984. Our membership with the Alliance ensures that we are constantly in touch with the latest developments in your child's education and care.

Since February 2011 we have been based in a welcoming converted church which is situated in Hay Lane North and is approached from Coggeshall Road. It is located a little over 1 mile east of Braintree Town Centre. Access is through the bright blue double doors at the front of the building.

The children are the most important people at Alec Hunter Pre-School. We are registered to take a maximum of 30 children per session. Staff will interact with the children by encouraging, facilitating and supporting them whilst they have fun, learn through play, talk about their experiences and share their enjoyment with others, thus enabling the children to become more confident and independent.

Alec Hunter Pre-School provides a safe, stimulating and caring environment that promotes learning through play, using a wide range of resources, and the opportunity for children to develop their social skills as they play alongside, and with other children. When your child starts Pre-School we understand that it is an important time for both you and your child.

Alec Hunter Pre-School is registered for the Free Early Education Funding for 3 and 4 year old's, which will be introduced the term following your child's third birthday. (Alec Hunter Pre-School takes children from age 2, funding is subject to criteria being met.)

We hope that this website will explain a little about us and perhaps answer some of the questions you might have. You are always welcome to come and chat to the staff and see what we, at Alec Hunter Pre-School, have to offer.
